Growing awareness among regional businesses about the serious threat posed by cybercrime is helping a young Leicestershire IT company to outperform its first year targets.

Iosys, which is based in Coalville, says it exceeded its turnover projections by 45% in its first year, securing clients from a much wider range of sectors than it had originally anticipated.

Craig Johnson, managing director, said: “The recent spate of high profile data breaches has made many company owners and directors re-evaluate their own cyber security.

“Businesses who had previously thought they were safe from harm are now seeking the reassurance and protection that only professional companies like Iosys can provide.

“Instead of creating their own DIY website or using web developers who don’t provide basic online safety as standard, they are seeking out firms like ours who treat data security as essential.”

Johnson, whose IT and web development background is in housebuilding, the company has attracted clients from a whole range of other sectors, including manufacturing, electrical engineering, catering, sport and retail.

He said: “We work with everyone from sole traders to SMEs providing both web development and IT support, always offering independent and unbiased advice. Since launching the business we have assisted companies whose websites have been severely compromised by malicious software; working quickly to rescue vital raw information to place on their new secure site.

“Our clients have also been keen to take advantage of our bespoke software solutions. Off-the shelf software is all very well but it cannot capture a business’s particular needs, nuances & personality. At Iosys we strive to provide clients with the perfect fit, not the nearest match.”
