Windermere, Cumbria software company Iosys Web Technologies Ltd have created a new 'table-service', food & drink ordering system for the hospitality sector.
As restrictions are eased and the sector gears up to re-open after Coronavirus lockdown, many are dreaming about sitting in the beer garden of their favourite pub, socially distanced of course.
The idea came into being after our client, Andrew Read of A2A Advertising Ltd in Milnthorpe was approached by the Ed Johnson, landlord of The Kings Arms Hotel, Hawkshead.
Andrew explains, “Once the QR code is scanned, a page opens where the customer fills in their food and drink order, and after submitting the venue receives an email. The customer hasn't touched a menu, and the staff have minimised contact. The new normal may be the normal for some time to come and any restaurant, cafe, hotel or pub can use this.. Ed commented, “We're looking to put the ordering system into holiday cottages and lodges around the village, so that we can provide our visitors staying in the holiday properties with a click and collect service for their evening meals”.
An early adopter of the new system is also Tony Keates, landlord of The Fighting Cocks in Arnside.
Tony said, “The Government is allowing pubs, restaurants, cafes & hospitality to be open as of the 4th July, and we've been taking steps to keep our customers as safe as can be. The system allows customers to order their food and drink simply by scanning a QR code and filling in a small online form”.
Craig Johnson, Managing Director at Iosys said, “We're pleased to be working with A2A to make Andrew's ideas a reality. The hospitality sector is having to make drastic adaptations to how it operates in order to do so safely, and this system will play a key role. The system's functionality has already been expanded to include ID capture for contact tracing purposes, with interest from landlords and hotel operators being received from all over the country.”
